greyshading:

When the term ‘Future Garage’ was first being thrown about, I thought it would go the way of the dodo, but alas, it has stayed, much like post-dubstep and indie-R&B. (Seriously, Indie-R&B?)

Often, these sub-genres can confine the artist, stopping them broadening their scope. Luckily, for now, these genres still have a broad enough spectrum to allow for innovation, and artists like Fed By Machines continue to push out innovative, good music.

The drum work displayed here is amazing, with its scuttling percussion and heavy hitting kicks, and the bass-line is thick and smooth, gluing the elements together, creating one solid, melancholy tune.

On Lifecrushed ‘Emerging Artists’ List

lifecrushed:

The original idea for our “Emerging Artists” list was to arrange the artists in a way that ranked them based off of a ‘who does what best’ mindset, but after careful consideration we said “screw it.” Who are we to tell you which acts are the best? Frankly, it wouldn’t be fair to the artists listed because A) everyone represented on this list is incredible, in their own right and B) it’s almost impossible to do. So instead we listed them by name from A to Z, with a song underneath to allow for you all to see why these acts are so special. Alright well enough justification, let’s just listen to some music. Now, without further adieu, we give you this year’s best “Emerging Artists.”

Life Crushed Presents: Night Tape

lifecrushed has included my submission ‘You’ in their special Night Tape, a compilation of tracks in a 50BPM tempo. Very honored to be included, all the tracks are free downloads and available below:

After about a month of gathering tracks from a number of contributors we’ve narrowed it down to these special twelve. I hope you all enjoy them as much as we have. Special thanks to all the artists involved in our experiment. Even though only 12 made the final cut, all of your submissions were beautiful. We value the time and effort you all put in to creating the tracks that were submitted. Both Olin and I love the fact that we are able to post and emphasize music that we feel deserves recognition. And for that we are thankful.

DL / Track List after the jump…
